  • accessCeramics
    Developed at Watzek Library, Lewis and Clark College, accessCeramics is “a growing collection of contemporary ceramics images by recognized artists enhancing ceramics education worldwide.”
  • Artstor (access limited to the CU community)
    Artstor  is a digital library of over one million “images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences with a set of tools to view, present, and manage images for research and pedagogical purposes.” The VRC provides training and support in this valuable resource. ARTstor’s holdings in modern and contemporary art have grown in recent years — it’s worth checking from time to time to see what is new.
  • Asian Art Archive
    The Collection Online is a continuously growing digital archive of primary source material culled by individual practitioners and researchers in cities across Asia. The initial launch represents a small portion (3,000 items) of AAA’s repository of 300,000 digital images, correspondences, artists’ personal documents, and streaming audio and video of performance art, artist talks, lectures, and other art events, with material being added as it becomes available.
  • Centre Pompidou
    Thousands of work from the Musée National d’Art Moderne are available online. Search tools and descriptive data are in French.
  • Guggenheim Collection Online
    A searchable database of selected artworks from the Guggenheim’s permanent collection. The site currently contains more than 800 artworks by over 300 artists from the Guggenheim’s overall permanent collection of over 7,000 artworks.
  • Olga’s Gallery
    Personal site of over 10,000 fair use images with a focus on the canon of Western Art from the medieval to modern periods. Largely painting with a few sculptures. Terms of Use require users to cite the Web site as the image source.
  • Rhizome’s ArtBase
    An online archive of new media art containing some 2,483 art works, and growing. The ArtBase encompasses a vast range of projects by artists all over the world that employ materials such as software, code, websites, moving images, games and browsers to aesthetic and critical ends.
  • Tate
    “Tate holds the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art.” Browse artworks by style or ‘-ism.’
  • VRC Image Collection (access limited to the CU community)
    Our collection contains a significant amount of contemporary art images, including a broad representation of contemporary Asia.
  • Walker Art Center
    “Our internationally acclaimed collection of modern and contemporary visual art, which grows each year through new acquisitions, includes more than 11,000 works.”
  • WorldImages, Modern World
